Designed in collaboration with master distiller Nicolas Julhès, these glasses draw on the codes and simplicity of the Twist 1586 collection: an educational approach, Venetian ribs designs specific to each model, and very tall stems. Spirits that are less than ten years old can thus be savoured in the 'young spirits' glass, while spirits that are over ten years old are best enjoyed in the 'mature spirits' glass. Finally, 'fortified' wines also have their own eponymous glass. The collection also includes a decanter for presenting and serving the chosen spirit.
Saint-Louis thus deploys a vocabulary dedicated to delivering a tasting experience guided by pleasure and intuition. The technical yet sophisticated design of the glasses reveals all the facets of the spirits. Their feel in the hand and their aesthetics invite gestures and a ritual that focuses attention on the liquids they hold. Using these glasses will delight amateurs and the most expert of palates alike.

The main benefits of the range:
Four main criteria determined the shape of the Twist 1586 spirits glasses: breathing surface, distance from the nose, shape of the lip, and number and orientation of Venetian ribs.
Compared to an excellent but more traditional tasting glass, the glasses in the Twist collection add a new dimension to the olfactory experience. From the very first instant, the nose is interpreted and transformed by the unique shape of these glasses, and by the Venetian rib in particular.
On the young spirits glass, this feature generates an anamorphosis of aromas, guiding the spirit towards fresher, more vibrant notes. Conversely, the mature spirits glass encourages aromas to expand, giving them fullness, volume and intensity. Even blindfolded, you could recognise these glasses simply by the depth and expression they bestow on spirits thanks to their geometry and its extraordinary ability to amplify and elevate their nose.
Twist 1586 - Young spirits glass

For which spirits?
White spirits such as vodka, white rum, gin, tequila, mezcal, fruit liquers (pear, mirabelle plum, cherry, fig), baijiu, and shōchū with a high alcohol content.
Brown spirits that are less than eight to ten years old, such as Armagnac, VSOP and VS cognacs, rum and whisky.
Tasting character:
This glass has been designed to highlight the freshness, sparkle, intensity and tension of young, dynamic spirits.
Shape:
A high parison to allow the spirit to breathe before it reaches the nose and mouth.
A tight lip to capture the volatile aromas of young spirits more effectively when the glass is raised to the nose and mouth.
Fifteen narrow Venetian ribs to slow down the flow and bring the spirit gently and sensitively to the mouth.
A curved lip to slow the flow and gently deposit the spirit at the base of the mouth to avoid attacking the palate and taste buds.
A very tall stem to avoid warming the spirit with the hand during tasting and to create a pleasant balance when swirled.
We recommend pouring 1-2 cl of spirit into this glass. This glass can also be used to enjoy an aged spirit, revealing its freshest, liveliest aromas.
Twist 1586 - Mature spirits glass

For which spirits?
'Barrel-aged' spirits, sometimes aged in a 'Paradis' (French term used to describe the recess of a cellar in which exceptional eaux de vie are stored) that are at least eight to ten years old and brown in colour: brandy, extra old (XO) cognac, XO Armagnac, XO dark rums, old whiskies, bourbons and jar-aged shōchū.
Tasting character:
This glass has been designed to showcase the vibrant, intense, generous and deep character of mature spirits.
Shape:
A short parison and more open lip to bring the nose closer to the heavy aromas of older spirits.
Sixteen narrow and twisted Venetian ribs to further slow the liquid's dynamic flow and bring it gently and sensitively to the mouth. They also heighten the olfactory sensations when brought to the nose.
A curved lip to slow the flow and gently deposit the spirit at the base of the mouth to avoid burning the palate and taste buds.
A very tall stem to avoid warming the spirit with the hand during tasting and to create a pleasant balance when swirled.
We recommend pouring 1-2 cl of spirit into this glass. This glass can also be used to enjoy a young spirit, revealing its deepest and most voluptuous aromas.
Twist 1586 - Fortified wine and sake glass

For which spirits?
For fortified wines, such as exceptional port and Madeira wine (Portugal), exceptional sherry (Spain), vermouth (Italy) and pineau des Charantes (France). For liquers. For sake and shōchū with a lower alcohol content (Japan).
Tasting character:
This glass reveals the fruity generosity and delicious appeal of fortified wines and liqueurs, while simultaneously highlighting their sparkle and vibrancy.
It showcases the purity and delicacy of sake, while curtailing the intensity of the alcohol.
Shape:
A glass that recalls the shape of a classic wine glass.
A high parison to allow the spirit to breathe before it reaches the nose and mouth.
A tight, straight lip for quick and direct delivery to the mouth.
Ten wide Venetian ribs, which help to accelerate the flow and ensure an intense arrival in the mouth.
A very tall stem to avoid warming the spirit with the hand during tasting and to create a pleasant balance when swirled.
We recommend pouring 5-10 cl or spirit into this glass.
Twist 1586 - Decanter

Shape:
The Twist 1586 Spirits decanter is a reissue of a design borrowed from the Saint-Louis Manufacture's extensive heritage. Its soft, generous curves recall the design of a demijohn: a large glass vessel used to preserve spirits.
Its twleve Venetian ribs illuminate the colour of the spirit within thanks to the exceptional way in which the crystal refracts the light. Once the spirit has been poured into the decanter, the Venetian ribs rade from sight but amplify the liquid's radiance and colour nuances.
The stopper is hand-cut with small, flat ribs that recall the Venetian ribs on the body of the decanter.
For which spirits?
This decanter has been designed for all types of spirits (young and mature).
